Cell Towers & Cell Phones

If a Cell Tower is Proposed in Your Area

An Introductory Packet
Excerpts and Resources from An Electronic Silent Spring

  1. Cell Tower Fires and Collapsing Towers
Cellular phone gear (antennas) have snapped and caused severe fires. Towers have also collapsed due to construction errors (31%), to ice (29%), to special wind (19%), to aircraft (11%) and to anchor failure (10%). Here are reports of cell towers that have caught fire and collapsed.
  2. Give Me a Megaphone
About Cell Phones and Cancer, Cell Towers and Cancer Cell Phones and Health

After telling Rich Farver that he had a brain tumor, his doctor said that it came from using a cell phone. Rich was a grad student in political science at San Diego State University. After he died, his mother discovered a cell tower beside the political science building–and more than a handful of others in the department with the same diagnosis.
  3. Cell towers and health
A synopsis of key, peer-reviewed studies about the health effects of living near a cellular antenna–also called a base station or cell tower.
  4. Cell Phone Fires
  5. List of Celebrity Brain Tumors prepared by California Brian Tumor Association/Ellie Marks
  6. Cell Towers and Schools
In a December 2013 letter, the Electromagentic Radiation Policy Institute explains to the Minneapolis School Board why NOT to have a cell tower on campus.
  7. Documentary Film, Broadcast Blues
Starting in 1953, radio and TV networks broadcast their signals to the Denver area from Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colorado. In the early 1990s, when the networks prepared to increase their signals’ power, Golden’s citizens (including engineers who had worked for NASA) began to research whether the antennas’ emissions were in compliance with FCC guidelines and whether these emissions affected their health. Len Aitken’s “Broadcast Blues,” completed in 2000, presents the first round of the battle between the Golden community and Denver-area TV and radio broadcasters.
  8. Cindy Sage on small cell emissions
  9. “Mobilize” is an excellent film about cell phones and brain cancer, children and cell phones and telecom industry efforts to keep the public from learning cell phone dangers.
  10. Cellphones Cause Cancer:
A Few Worthwhile Minutes from Attorney Jimmy Gonzales, 1972-2014
  11. Testimony of Albert M. Manville, II, Ph.D., C.W. B., and Principal, Wildlife and Habitat Conservation Solutions, LLC, on Behalf of Friends of Amazon Creek, Before the City of Eugene City Planning Department in Opposition to AT&T/Crossfire’s Application for a “Stealth” Cellular Communications Tower in the Upper Amazon Creek Corridor
  12. LA Firefighters Do Not Want Cell Towers
April, 2015: The United Firefighters of Los Angeles oppose the installation of cell towers on their stations because of concerns about radiofrequency radiation on their health. The LA City Council has backed the firefighters’ union–unanimously.
